Titles and directors
”Ann Wolff and the Snowball Fight”/”Det stora Snöbollskriget” by Kristian Jeremic-Laache.
Artist Ann Wolff has spent a lifetime moving between design, sculpture and glass, building an international career that extends far beyond the object for which she is best known: the Snowball candle holder.
Now 89, Ann lives on the Swedish island of Gotland with her partner Dirk, surrounded by more than five decades of work. As they look back on a shared life of art, travel and experimentation, the story of the Snowball returns. Questions about royalties, authorship and the origin of the Snowball bring an unresolved part of her past back into the present.
Moving between their life together today, Ann’s artistic journey and the complicated history of the Snowball, the film explores how one small object came to occupy such a large place in the story of her life and work.
As Ann and Dirk grow older, the film gradually turns toward the future. What remains of an artist’s work when the artist is no longer there, and what can be passed on to others?
An intimate documentary about love, creation, recognition and legacy.
